Special Needs Philosophy PDF Print E-mail

The Christ the Teacher Catholic Schools believe strongly in an inclusionary model as being the most effective way to address the special learning needs of all children.  We therefore strive to meet the needs of our students in the regular classroom setting.  We have found that, in special circumstances, some types of programs and support services can better be delivered outside the classroom.

The learning support program for a given student may include the most appropriate combination of services where the resource teacher or assistant provides help in the regular classroom or the student visits the resource room to work with the resource teacher in an individualized or small group setting.

Visually impaired, hearing impaired, intellectually disabled, physically disabled and autistic students, among others, have their needs met in programs which blend inclusion in the regular classroom and programs with pull-out support as best meets their individual needs.
