School Counsellors

School Counsellors

The role of the School Counsellor is to help students resolve personal, emotional, and social problems that interfere with their adjustment to school or their academic progress.  We provide students with an opportunity for one-on-one counselling, group work, and classroom presentations as needed.

Specific examples of services provided that are dealt with include, but are not limited to:

  • Behaviours that interfere with school success
  • Personal or family matters that interfere with school success
  • Attendance or truancy issues
  • Drug or alchohol use
  • Crisis counselling
  • Conflict resolution
  • Anger management

Outside agencies for resources or referrals are also utilized where appropriate, which may include Mental Health & Addictions Services, community based family support programs, and the Ministry of Social Services

Referrals to the School Counsellor can be made by parents, school personnel, or students can make a self-referral.
